S-LIFT: REDRAPING OF THE MIDDLE THIRD OF THE FACE, CHEEKS AND PART OF THE NECK
What are the benefits? There are less potentially visible scars (the hair can be pulled back or raised without fear of visible scars). Since the surgery required is limited, there are also reduced risks of complications such as bleeding, suffering of the tissues, sensitivity problems, loss of hair, etc. Naturally, the effects associated with swelling and ecchymoses (bruises) are limited-usually to a few days when they are not totally absent.
Is This the Solution for Me?
This technique is most often used with men and women between 30 and 50 years of age who are in good health and have light to moderate drooping of the face’s lower part and of the neck, and who seek appreciable rejuvenation. The limitations of this procedure must, however, be understood.
Many plastic surgeons refuse to perform regular lifting on smokers due to the risk of tissue suffering. Since this risk is much more reduced with an S-Lift, this procedure becomes an interesting alternative for smokers.
After the Procedure
S-Lifting requires the same precautions as any other procedure: prior evaluation of the health condition, avoidance of medications causing bleeding, etc.
The S-Lift is performed under local anesthesia using a tumescence solution that allows to separate the tissues and prevent bleeding. The surgeon proceeds to separate the skin located in front of the ear, thereby gaining access to the underlying muscles which will be tightened with threads. Liposuction of the jowls can also be performed. The incision, which is mostly concealed inside the ear, will be closed with an invisible thread.
You will be discharged on the same day with a bandage over the incision site, which will be removed in our clinic 24 hours later. Rest is essential during the first 24 hours.
Pain, which is usually minimal, can be relieved with mild analgesics. The next day, you may notice small bruises and a slight swelling which will last a few days. The sutures will be removed 6 or 7 days following the procedure. You will be able to resume normal activities 4 or 5 days after the procedure.
Are the Results Permanent?
The normal ageing process cannot be halted. The rate at which the skin ages depends on heredity, exposure to light, lifestyle (tobacco intake, nutrition), and skincare (vitamins A, C, E, etc.). Through S-Lift the years of rejuvenation taken away from normal ageing will already be a highly appreciable gain.
Other Treatment Options
For more pronounced sagging, it may be recommendable to resort to a lifting technique involving extended incisions. Less surgical options are sometimes sought and these can also provide valuable changes while being different in nature. For instance:
S-Lifting is a new tool added to our arsenal against ageing.
